I was one of the front-line members of the C3 Support team, administering the OpenStack environment, automating common administrative tasks, updating the Puppet configuration, and training new contractors; we also drove user support for PayPal during in the eBay/PayPal cloud separation, ensuring that their data and compute were migrated, and that they received the resources they needed in the new environment.

I was the lead systems engineer for various shopping.com development teams, including search, consumer sites, and publisher; i provided support for developers, wrote and improved homebrewed deployment & Nagios monitoring scripts.  I was also the lead systems engineer for the shopping.com/eBay search integration project; during that time, i set up a proof-of-concept Hadoop/HBase/Zookeeper/Oozie cluster for search index generation and also acted as project manager.

I was lead administrator for the File Transfer Fabric environment, including provisioning automation (kickstart, RPM, Bourne shell scripts) and documentation.  I was one of the principals in a data center move and infrastructure redesign and upgrade project (doubling the amount of production servers, redesigning namespace, defining new VLAN roles and separation).  I also set up monitoring with GroundWork, and also served as postmaster and hostmaster (postfix and BIND).

Our small team built a new data center for the new version of the Visible Path application platform; this included setting up provisioning for Solaris and SuSE Linux hosts, configuring and administering Foundry core switches, Juniper firewalls, and F5 load balancers.  The software we used included Resin as our Java container server, Oracle database, Perforce, Jira, Sitescope, and MediaWiki.  I also traveled to the Bangalore office to set up their network and system devices.
